Making an inspirational quote by typesetting metal type and carving linoleum block.
When I saw those beautiful letters in the letterpress studio, I attempted to utilize those different fonts to represent the message of the quote. It was challenging, risky but stimulating as the result was unpredictable while I was selecting the letters. After some trials, I changed some typefaces, font sizes, leading and tons of kerning to strike a balance and harmony among various fonts.
There are more limitations in letterpress and printmaking art than digital design. However, I embrace the surprises and uncertainty letterpress give to me.
