A series of printed collateral for an annual Fur Design Competition Show in Hong Kong.
Objectives
Every year in December, Hong Kong Fur Federation hosts a regional competition for local young fashion designers to explore their possibilities in fur design. In the final night of competition, a fashion show enabled finalists to present their works to local celebrities and fashion designers.

ConceptsTranslating three concepts from client (old Shanghai, modern and creativity) into two motifs:
1 Birdcage: Chinese always use birdcage to symbolize the trap of freedom. An opened birdcage is associated with coming out of bondage into freedom. Therefore, a birdcage symbolizes the creativity of the fashion designers. Likewise, bird is a furry animal that associates with fur. 2 Geometric Chinese element: In old city of Shanghai, Chinese window frames and flowers are frequently used in their designs. I simplified the complexity of those elements into the design. Those traditional elements are represented in a modern way.

Program Design - sky100
In the final night of competition, the winner will be chosen. With the concept of "the bird will come out of the cage on that night", the main idea of the programme is to give an experience to guests that they are opening the bird cage while they are reading the programme. Besides, the competition was held in an iconic skyscraper sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck. Therefore, I inserted the ring element from the logo of sky100 into the program design.
Winners Booklet - release
The winner booklet was designed after the competition to provide an overview of this year’s winners. Birdcage is used throughout the whole design to represent the trap of creativity. In the final product, birdcage is concealed and no longer existed on the cover page, which means creativity is released.
I chose the silver translucent paper and applied "gate fold" to cover design aiming to symbolize that it is a preservation of treasurable memory. The booklet is a photo album that witness the growth of competitors.
